Manchester United have moved third in the Premier League after thrashing Leeds United 6-2 at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay got the hosts in front 68 seconds into the game with a low, long-range shot into the bottom corner and added a second just three minutes later with a beautiful finish from inside the box.

Leeds defence was shaky throughout the game gifting balls to United as Bruno Fernandes made it three from 12 yards in a narrow space hitting one into the left corner of the net inside the 20th minute.

Victor Lindelof added a fourth from an Anthony Martial corner kick flicked into the far post inside 37 minutes and Marcelo Bielsa’s men were found wanting.

Leeds pulled one back through Liam Cooper from a corner where he headed one home in the 42nd minute in a five-goal thriller in the first-half of the game.

Daniel James added the fifth before Fernandes made it 6-1 from a penalty after Martial was being fouled by Pascal Struijk inside the box then Stuart Dallas curled a beauty into the top corner to make it 6-2.

Man United are now five points behind leaders Liverpool and with a game in hand and just a point behind second place Leicester City who moved there after beating Spurs 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds are 14th in the league having conceded 30 goals in 14 games.
