Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has heaped praises on striker Karim Benzema following his wonderful display against Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday night.
Zidane believes Benzema best French striker of all-time after scoring two goals in their 3-1 win over Athletic Club taking Madrid on level points with league leaders Real Sociedad.
The two goals place Benzema second on the La Liga scoring chart with six goals and Zidane when quizzed if the 32-year-old was the best French forward did not hesitate to say yes.
“For me yes,” the Real boss said. “In addition to what he shows, he has been at Real Madrid for a long time.
“More than 500 games, all the goals, his record. What he has done speaks for itself. For me he is the best, it is very clear.”
Benzema became the foreign player with the most appearances for the Los Blancos when he has his 528th appearance against Atletico Madrid overtaking Roberto Carlos.
Benzema is also the club’s fourth all-time leading goalscorer with 259 goals in his 11-year career at Real Madrid.
Zidane also praised the 32-years-old’s link up play saying: “He is a more complete player now than he used to be. He’s not a pure No.9, he doesn’t just tun about scoring goals and that’s what I love about him.
