Dele Alli’s struggle to get playing time at Spurs under Jose Mourinho continues as The Athletic reports that the midfielder was left out of the squad the travelled on Sunday to Burnley.
The England international has only started one Premier League game this season against Everton on the opening day and came off the bench against Manchester United.
Alli again will be missing from the team at Turf Moor this evening as Burnley host Jose Mourinho’s side.
The midfielder looks be to surplus to requirements under Mourinho’s management despite coming off the bench in the Europa League tie with LASK last Thursday.
Alli who is not injured came into the game with half an hour remaining as Spurs won 3-0 and hasn’t had enough Premier League game time after he was substituted in Spurs loss to Everton.
Alli has been left out of the squad a number of times and considered a loan switch during the transfer window with PSG among other clubs keen on him but no move materialised.
With the addition of Steven Bergwijn last January, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius, Alli faces tough competition as Mourinho has broaden his attacking options.
He has failed to appear on the bench five times this season and upon getting a game time in the Europa League against LASK, he posted on his social media handle: “Always grateful for the opportunity to do what I love most.”
