Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has signed a new five-year deal to remain at the Villa Park until the summer of 2025.
The 25-year-old will now earn around £135,000 per week. Grealish staying is a huge boost for the club ahead of the new season.
Grealish was admired by Manchester United and there were speculations that he would move to the Old Trafford but has now been offered a huge pay rise with an increase of about £55,000 per week of his old salary at the Villa Park.
The Villa captain was the frontman leading the team to a Premier League survival on the final day with a his goal in the 1-1 draw with West Ham that helped them avoid relegation.
Villa had no plans of letting go their homegrown player and had no interest in discussing any deal less than £80m for their captain, a price only a handful of clubs could contemplate on due to the financial mishap caused by the coronavirus pandemic .
He scored eight goals and contributed six assists to Vllla’s survival last season underlining his importance for the club and manager Dean Smith will be delighted to have his captain whom he share a good relationship with stay.
