United States Attacker Alex Morgan has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a short deal.
The club confirmed the move on their official website with a statement saying Morgan has joined them for the 2020-21 season from Orlando Pride.
“We are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement for the signing of two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Alex Morgan, subject to obtaining a Visa,” the statement read.
“The USA International striker joins us for the 2020-21 season and will wear the No.13 shirt.
“One of the biggest names in women’s football, the 31-year-old host of team and international honours, contributing numerous goals and assists during a glittering career to date.”
The two-time World Cup winner tweeted: “2020 is the year of the unexpected, but next up- the first stamp on Charlie’s passport. #COYS @SpursWomen.”
Morgan has made 169 appearances for the United States scoring 107 goals and was part of the 2015 and 2019 World Cup winners.
Her header goal against England in last year’s semi-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup was marked with a memorable tea drinking gesture as she celebrated.
Morgan joins other US internationals in the Women’s Super League including Manchester City’s Sam Lewis and Rose Lavelle and Man United’s new signings Tobin Heath and Christen Press.
