Crystal Palace confirm the return of Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea.
The Belgians contract with Chelsea is due to expire next summer but an additional year will ensure he does not leave for free once his loan deal expires.
The 26-year-old spent the second half of tbe 2019/20 season on loan at Palace scoring seven goals. Crystal Palace have an option to buy the striker at the end of his loan spell but they are not obliged to do so.
Batshuayi after making a £33m move from Olympic Marseille to Chelsea in 2016 has since struggled to get game time and now has been pushed further below the pecking order with Frank Lampard’s new signings.
The addition of £53m singing Timo Werner to Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham means Michy Batshuayi would have been the fourth option for Frank Lampard.
Batshuayi has been loaned to Valencia, Borussia Dortmund and Crystal Palace since joining Chelsea and his time at the Selhurst Park was the most successful when he scored 7 goals in 13 appearances.
