Chelsea have completed the signing of German sensational midfielder Kai Havertz from Bayern Leverkusen for £89m.
Kai becomes Chelsea’s fifth signing of an incredible summer window adding up to a total spend of £230m by the West London club.
The 21-year-old wonderkid also becomes the joint most expensive player signed by a British club after Manchester United signed Paul Pogba for the same amount from Juventus.
The Premier League transfer record is £145m which Liverpool recieved from Barcelona for the signing of Philippe Coutinho.
Havertz has also become the most expensive German player of all time and also broken Chelsea’s all time transfer record fee after siging Kepa Arizzabalaga for £72m.
Speaking after completing his transfer Havertz said: “I’m very happy and proud to be here. For me its a dream come true to play for a big club like Chelsea and I can’t wait to meet all the players and the trainers. Yea I’m very happy to be here!
Chelsea football director Marina Granovskaia has been very instrumental in Chelsea’s transfer businesses over the summer helping the club secure top targets.
Hakeem Ziyech and Timo Werner had already been secured before the season ended with the Moroccan joining from Ajax for £38million and Werner RB Leipzig for £53million.
Chelsea also completed deals for Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva who joined on a free transfer and secured the deal for Ben Chilwell from Leicester City for £50million.
