Manchester United according to reports have agreed a £40m fee with Ajax to sign midfielder Donny van de Beek in the coming days.
United who return to pre-season trainingthis week believe the midfielder will be a key player in their team and hope to wrap up the deal by the end of the week.
United will offer Donny van de Beek a-five-year contract worth £30,000 a-week which will be an improvement of his current contract with Ajax.
Both parties are confident the move will go through and the Holland midfielder will be a Manchester United player in the coming days.
Sportsmail reports that there was an accelerated negotiations between the two clubs on Sunday after Man United stepped up their interest to sign the Dutch national.
The midfielder trained alone on Sunday amid high interest from Manchester United while waiting for his future to be resolved and was also left out from the squad in their friendly against Hertha Berlin.
Ajax manager Erik ten Haag confirmed: “There are indeed developments that prevent him from being in the selection. We are looking at how that will end.”
Van de Beek in the last campaign for Ajax made 37 appearances and scored 10 goals for the Eredivisie team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to solidify his midfield and the addition of van de Beek to an already stellar partnership formed by Paul Pogba and January signing Bruno Fernandes will strengthen United’s midfield.
Further reports claims Tottenham Hotspur were in the process of hijacking the deal and United stepped up their pursuit of the Dutch midfielder and agreed personal terms with him.
The midfielder is believed to have found interest in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking football and will be expected to sign for the Old Trafford club in few days.
