According to medical experts, at least two people were killed in clashes in Ivory Coast after President Alassane Ouattara decided to run for a third term.
They were killed in the southern city of Divo where opposition supporters clashed with Ouattara supporters. Residents said one of the dead was a teenager who died after protesters set fire to a bar.
On Saturday, the ruling party formally selected Mr. Ouattara as a presidential candidate. He had previously promised not to contest again but changed his mind after the Prime Minister’s unexpected death in July.
The issues are; in the legal framework of Ivory Coast does the constitution allow a third term?. Is it logically right to seek a third term?
All over the world sitting Presidents don’t go for a third term unless the rulership is that of a monarchy. However, what the President Alassane Ouattara must do to bring peace should be done immediately.
West Africa, Africa, and the world are not ready for another political instability in Ivory Coast amid the battle of coronavirus.
