Napoli have made a bid for Arsenal target Gabriel Magalhaes leaving the Gunners’ hopes of landing the £22million rated centre half in jeopardy as per reports from Sportsmail.
The Italian side have already raided Lille for one of their best attackers Victor Oshimen who recently signed for them and Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly keen on strengthening his defence with the Brazilian centre back on his top priority.
Just on Tuesday it was reported that the 22-year-old Brazilian defender had agreed a deal with Arsenal but reports emerging from Sky Sports today claims Napoli have made a bid for Gabriel which is seriously being considered leaving Arsenals hope of signing him blur.
Both Arsenal and Napoli failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League but will feature in the Europa League and can put forward compelling cases in an attempt to win Gabriel’s signature.
With his former teammate Victor Oshimen having already made a switch to Napoli, it could be a convincing factor for Gabriel to join as he would help him settle in Italy.
Both Arsenal and Napoli have matched Lille’s demands but Gabriel reportedly favours a move to Arsenal more to link up with his compatriots David Luiz , Willian and Gabriel Martinelli.
But Lille president Gerard Lopez has insisted the decision to join any of the two clubs lies solely in the hands of the player.
‘We clearly told him what our expectations were, we spoke to a number of clubs, our expectations were met by a number of clubs and we have given him the time to decide,’ He told Sky Sports
‘It is going to be entirely his decision. We tend to try and steer our players in certain directions, but at the end of the day it’s the player’s decision.’
