Kevin De Bruyne has been named 2019/20 Premier League Player of the season.
Contending with Liverpool trio Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander Arnold and Southampton striker Danny Ings, golden boot winner Jamie Vardy and Nick Pope, the Belgian international emerged victorious ahead of them.
De Bruyne who has been an excellent playmaker over the past few seasons stood out this time around equalling Thierry Henry’s 2002/03 season assist record of 20.
De Bruyne was unfortunate in the previous season when Man City won the Premier League after losing the award to Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk but this time he won it.
Liverpool dominated the nominations with captain Henderson having a superb season and Sadio Mane scoring 18 goals and assisting 7.
Trent Alexander Arnold who was also named the Young Player of the season beat his own assist record for a defender after recording 12 in the 2018/19 season and 13 in the 2019/20 season.
De Bruyne has also been nominated for the PFA Fans Player of the Season and could have the chance to sweep another award for the just ended season.
Liverpool again dominate nominations in this category with Sadio Mane, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold in the list alongside Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling.
