Willian has reportedly agreed a three-year contract offer from Arsenal worth £100,000 a-week.
The Brazilian winger was holding talks with Chelsea over a new contract which he demanded a-three-year extension which Chelsea were unwilling to offer.
He wanted a long term deal but Chelsea only had two years on the table which he refused and has decided to move on from the Stamford Bridge.
Lampard was keen to keep Willian beyond this season and extend his seven years stay at the club but Arsenal have stepped in to sign the 3131-year-old on a free transfer.
Arteta is a huge admirer of the winger as he still searches for some experience in his team in their process of rebuilding and ESPN has reported both clubs are expected to make an official announcement later this month.
Frank Lampard is believed to have spoken with Chelsea’s hierarchy to do something about Willian’s deal but apparently his pleas fell into deaf ears.
The Brazilian’s agent Kia Joorabchian recently said five clubs are after his client with two Premier League clubs with Everton said to be one of them.
Willian made 47 appearances for Chelsea in the 2019/20 season scoring 11 goals and providing 9 assists.
At the Stamford Bridge, Willian won two league titles, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the Europa League.
He missed the FA Cup final through injury and had to watch from the stands.
