The death toll of the Beirut port explosion has reached 135 after a warehouse at the port which stored explosive materials went up in flames.
More than 5,000 people have been injured a day after the incident as hospitals are overwhelmed with people. Several others are still trapped under rubbles. Emergency workers are still scrambling to find missing people.
Incomplete investigations show that the fire was caused by a welder who caused a fire that spread to a nearby warehouse which housed 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate.
About 300,000 people have been rendered homeless by the explosion. Half the buildings in Beirut have been damaged as the cost of the entire damaged is pegged at $5 Billion.
The Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan diab has said that those found responsible for the explosion will pay the price.
Some port officials have been placed under house arrest as investigations continue to establish culpability.
The government of neighbouring long time enemies of Lebanon, Israel has offered humanitarian aid to the country as leaders across the world show support for the devastated country.
