The Gunners are reported to have been offered the chance to sign out of favour Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer for just £9million.
Coutinho who is still on loan at Bayern Munich as they prepare to play the Champions League next month had an offer in his contract to be signed but the Bavarians did not trigger the option to sign which has now expired.
A return to the starting XI at the Camp Nou seem very unlikely for the Brazilian and has been offered a chance to return to the Premier League with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both interested, but a deal seems for more likely for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Barcelona, according to reports from The Independent, are open to a swap deal for Coutinho involving out-of-favour Matteo Guendouzi moving to the Camp Nou.
In details of the report, Barcelona will require Arsenal to pay just £9million in addition to Matteo Guendouzi to sign Coutinho.
The Gunners board however , are waiting on the result of the FA Cup to see their stand whether or not they’ll make it to Europe- which financially will be a significant factor- before they make any commitments to tranfers.
Arsenal would need to beat Chelsea at Wembley to make the Europa League which in turn will be a hige financial boost for Mikel Arteta in the summer window.
Arteta wishes to invest in his team especially if they cannot make the deal for Dani Ceballos permanent and see the midfielder as a good addition to his team.
