A 21-year-old Starbucks employee has been arrested for spitting into the drinks of a number of police officers.
Kevin Trejo was working as an employee at the Park Ridge location of the New Jersey Starbucks. He was detained according to local authorities after they established that he committed the crime.
Authorities couldn’t determine how many drinks Trejo spat into neither have they been able to determined if Trejo has the Coronavirus.
Park Ridge Police Captain, Joseph Rampolla said, ‘under the current COVID threat, it is extremely disturbing to think that someone would intentionally spit in your drink.’
A Starbucks spokesperson said Trejo’s actions were ‘reprehensible’. The spokesperson who expressed the commitment of the company in aiding police investigaations disclosed that Trejo was sacked.
‘We will continue to support Park Ridge Police in their investigation and have a deep respect for the Park Ridge Police Department and the officers who help keep our partners and communities safe,’ the spokesperson said.
Reports indicate that the Starbucks Park Ridge location has a good relationship with the police and usually organize coffee events for the cops.
‘We believe this was an isolated act but it does not remove the shock and disgust that our officers feel,’ Rampolla said.
Following his arrest on Monday, Kevin Trejo was charged with tampering with the drinks of police officers, creating a hazardous environment and subjecting law enforcement officers to bodily fluid.
